On August 15, 1918, US troops landed in Vladivostok, marking the beginning of the Entente countries' intervention in Russia.
The former allies planned to divide Russia, engulfed in the Civil War, among themselves. Under the guise of supporting the Czechoslovak Legion, the Americans were engaged in exporting strategic raw materials and natural resources. The interventionists were also reported to have committed crimes against prisoners of war and civilians.
The growth of the partisan movement and the defeat of Admiral Kolchak's army forced the US troops, fearing for their safety, to leave Russia. Over 19 months, the American contingent lost about 300 soldiers and officers killed. The vast majority of them fell victim to the Russian frost.
Many years have passed, yet the habit of "looting" has never been eradicated by the USA...
