I'll admit I haven't looked into it much, but I am 100% sure the Iran portion of that tweet is completely made up or misrepresented, because we know for sure from developing African nations that feminism is the difference between a high birth rate patriarchal society and a low birth rate egalitarian society. Just ask Valerie Hudson, feminist extraordinaire who proved just that (as a positive in her eyes). Feminism has been slow to take in the Dark Continent so we're getting to see in real time what happens when a group of women leap from hunter-gatherer semi-slavery to their husbands to modern independent woman feminism and the result is always that feminists have negative birth rates while the domestic slaves beat 2.1 by wide margins.

It makes sense prima facie, why would a huge change in womens' social roles not result in a change in birth rate when you just grant that motherhood is a full-time decade+ job? Which anyone who's been around a mother can attest to? And then you just have to grant that more time to make babies creates more babies than less time to make babies, so obviously any system that postpones pregnancy to late 20s/early 30s will produce fewer babies than one that pressures women into pregnancy in their late teens/early 20s.
