I'm really liking the way the recruitment works in Pharoah, it makes the armies feel like a core of elite troops supported by the local rabble, and good for variety once you have access to multiple different cultures, supplemented by warrior's refuges. But it does feel samey especially in the early game, it would be better if there was more realms and they were all smaller. I can understand a realism argument, but the entirety of Egypt being made up of only 4 realms is a little much
I do like how the weapons and skills work though, the skills are simple enough that they don't get in the way too much, and the weapons all feel unique
I'm using the mod that gives more traits, see >>535320263 and that helps a little bit with making the generals feel unique, but it doesn't do that much aside from flavor
picrel is what my court looks like for example, and these are my most unique lords because of stacking court benefits and devoting to gods
I might give Troy another go at some point, only played as Amazons in that game
