If you look at where the iron sights are on the M6C (which is shorter barrel anyways) they shouldn't be that far back unless they massively redesigned the proportions in a way it doesn't look like they did.

They copied the Reach M6G without actually thinking about it. The H2/ODST M6C actually has the sight down the proper length of the barrel, Reach was the only game with the retardo sight past the port and even that can be argued to be more an attach point for the barrel shroud. So it's entirely possible that someone just started at the CE and Reach Magnums, fused them together in some unholy abomination and thought "oh that must be a front sight".
