My take on this is that women are just usually raised to be losers, or to not have a complex personality/hobbies, no incentive from parents, or people around you to tell you that you're smart, or that you should do things even if they're hard, so they never really get too into things that are "deep", the most nerdy thing you'll see the average chick doing is cosplay and like watching a few anime.
Women are just told to give up and just focus on being pretty or doing something more "feminine", my father raised me by himself so I never really got that treatment (thank god), but my step-mother for example is a perfect case study of that, smart woman but never incentivized to understand tech so she can't even use stuff properly.
