Watching players like Du completely give up and switch to Mai is sadder than seeing people drop the game. He used to play so carefully with guile, using each boom to its fullest potential and minimizing his mistakes. With Mai he whiffs throws constantly because of the fans blockstun and swings his normals without a care because of the bouncing fan.
He's not having fun throw looping, the opponent's not having fun dealing with fans, and we're not having fun watching this clown show. Everyone loses.
