An old childhood friend of mine is exactly like this and I feel genuinely bad for her husband because she has trooned out so hard that she started growing this mangey, unkempt beard that just looks disgusting to look at now.

The weird thing is that her personality hasn't changed since she was like 14. I'm not joking, she still has the exact same mindset, hobbies and obsessions she had when she was 14 but now she's in her mid 30's and it's just painful and cringe inducing to be around her. I genuinely think the only reason why she trooned out at all is because she wants to keep pretending that she's young and important to everyone even though her life and body has already caught up to her. She basically lives off her husband's career and if they ever broke up, she'd be homeless because she hasn't had a job in over 10 years. They don't even have a kid so she spends most of her entire day LARPing as a revolutionary online and posting artwork for the fandoms she's in.

Honestly I feel bad for her too, watching her act the way she does at her age is just kind of sad. Like someone who simply just doesn't want to accept that the world and time has moved on and that they're an adult now and have to grow up. It's not like she's retarded or autistic or something, she's sane and fairly smart in terms of mathematics and costume designs but outside of that it's like talking to a woman who's desperately clinging onto their child side to keep feeling young.
