Your bass is alright, I'd rather spend the money on an audio interface if you want to record, if not then get a decent strap (believe me, a good strap goes a long way in comfort) and, for the amp, I suggest the legendary Fender Rumble 40, best amp for pretty much every bass player that isn't a millionaire. If you really want to switch basses, try getting a 24 fret one, those 3 more frets are really useful sometimes, though the distance between the first frets is going to be slightly longer, so keep that in mind. I personally like Cort's basses nowadays, they're nicely designed (unlike Fender's bs) and sound and feel great (unlike Ibanez's and, sometimes, ESP's)
