It feels like SEAland is a testing ground for Eastern products, or products in general, that could be marketed to the Western market, ie. if it works here, there's a high chance it would work in the Western markets as well. Not all the time though. I've first noticed this pattern with text messaging (SMS). It seems SMS was meant for disabled persons to communicate with others, but then SEAlanders found this method to be a cheaper way to communicate rather than calling, and it became mainstream, and then the Western market caught on with this idea.
