0-60 definitely still matters a lot. It just matters a bit less nowadays because of EVs as well as many performance cars having over 400 hp which makes RWD launching completely traction limited. Further, performance automatics shift ridiculously fast now.
Which means it basically devolves to 500 hp AWD automatic beats anything 0-60 that isn't a AWD automatic with higher hp. So the 0-60 wars are more boring. Not that it doesn't matter.
And EVs didn't really kill the wars, the GT-R did. 3.3 second 0-60 in 2008 with it's AWD, fast automatic and high hp. Everyone else followed suit.
