Former wizard. I understand where you are coming from.
>So, the purpose of life is to create and nourish/sustain complex/complicated systems as a means of counteracting entropy. This includes things like ecosystems, but also social systems, because consciousness evolved as an additional layer of complexity to counteract entropy.
Somewhere in the 20th century this idea was completely abandoned in the favor of the self. Like Deus Ex says, people's morality was once based upon gods and currently it is built upon fame. Right and wrong are only determined by what gives you attention and monetary spending. There is no sense of a higher power or even a higher purpose. Most people are aware of this. Perhaps at some point AI will be the future but it won't be until the very of our lifetimes at best that we will see this.
The worst part of it all is to have reached this higher level of consciousness and to be able to understand another person better than they understand themselves knowing there is nothing you can do to persuade or even educate them on the subject matter as even if they logically agree with you, the modern world does not promote said values we share so there is no purpose. I think that might be my biggest issue that may very well lead to my ultimate suicide is knowing I have no purpose. Any which direction I go the modern world is so interconnected I know I can be replaced. Even billionaire futurists like Musk or Thiel can be replaced if needs be.
I want objective, purposeful meaning to lead to a better world. The current world wants me to increase the GDP for shareholders and will throw me aside at the first instance of questioning.
