It's fairly popular and going strong. It just isn't very well suited for doujins the way takagi or nagatoro are.
For my part, I just can't bring myself to read them, they're not doing the actual relationship justice. Two pages of Yamada and Ichikawa spiderman kissing is more powerful than any fan-produced material so far.
