The whole "freedom from consequences" line is evil and unamerican, if you're fearful of violent reprisal for your words then you cannot truly be free to speak. It isn't merely the State who cannot infringe on your 1st amendment right, it's your fellow citizen as well.
Yes, I AM saying that we have no right to violence against fellow citizens for the crime of speaking mean words. That does extend to the sick fucks mocking Kirk's death online and getting fired for it, in principal they are free to say such things even though I dislike them for it.
Sadly, we might be beyond such an idealistic view as mine. I wish everybody still agreed on the basics, even if they'll always disagree on specific politics. The ground rules were set for all of us, now they're being ignored.
This bodes ill, imo.
