Rabbits and hyraxes do not chew cud. They exhibit behaviors that might look like cud chewing to a retard but they don't have the anatomy for it. Which doesn't effect their status as unclean but they are unclean for a different reason than the text says, they both do not chew cud and don't have a divided hoof.

Except that isn't true. Nobody else either in the region or the world has ever had these dietary restrictions. Because they are completely arbitrary. Shit, the rule is based on whether or not the animal chews cud and has divided hoof not what it eats
