Why not try out some smaller games. I have just started out engaging in Kings of the Colloseum. You can make the terrain yourself, print it or buy it as a set. Really fun type of games of 40k, very tactical on a small scale.
Rules are simple, 500p, no unit over T9, must have a character that is your warlord, and must have at least 2 units of infantry.
Just building the lists is a blast, trying to come up with new and exciting ways to play your opponent.
