It's an open secret that politicians get compromised at a local level before they get to climb the hierarchy and get their place under the sun.
Some had to stick their dick in a pig's mouth as a uni society initiation (hi Dave), some just claimed travelling expenses, some had an affair with their secretary but everyone can be blackmailed to tow the line.
In the off-chance a populist gets far enough in an election cycle you can just use gerrymandering and character-hitpieces to make it a safe election. (like they did in France for Le Pen and Germany/AfD).
If that fails and they do get elected, use a made up constitutional crisis within 6 months to clear the parliament (like they did in Italy, Holland and Austria).
Or turns out that the "populist outsider" was a WEF shill in the first place (((Millei))).
You can of course create new compromising material to make the outsider cowtow (Bolsonaro).
And when all fails, you can just full-on interfere and legit cancel the elections by claiming there has been outsider interference, like they did in Romania in December 2024.
