Anime characters have simplified human faces, it’s really that simple. Cats also have small noses and big eyes but so do babies and children. The thing is that anime characters don’t have anything resembling a cat’s face. The weird side profile is an animation shortcut just like the anime side mouth, when anime designs are translated into figures they are given mosquito bite noses, not cat faces.
