A friend gave me a Rebel T6i with the kit lens. I want to shoot wild life or distant objects.I'm not spending more than $200 on anything related to this because I am a cheap jew and I was using a shitty phone camera before so anything is an improvement. I hear this lense format goes back to like 1997 so I suppose I could have a lot of options on the used market but I don't really know what I need for zoom.
What is the difference between a macro and a telephoto lens? I was trying to shoot bees and the 18-55 was not close enough for close ups or long distance.
What does the MM actually translate to in practical use? If this is a 18-55 and taken at 55, what would a 70-300 or 400-800 actually mean in terms of power? Is going from 55 to 110 doubling the zoom if it's the same type of lens on the same camera?
