>Creepy
As a huge Kurosawa Kiyoshi fan, Creepy was a big disappointment for me, and it shouldn't have been a surprise since it was produced by TBS iirc. I remember when I first watched it, I told myself that maybe Kurosawa is finally going back to his nihilistic origins and making something as good as Cure, Charisma and Pulse but I still had my doubts as the entire cast was made of mainstream actors who are stable in trendy tv dramas which means it was made with the mainstream audience in his mind. My doubts were confirmed as it felt so toothless for a psychological-thriller film made by Kurosawa Kiyoshi. It was so tame and shallow, as if I was watching a tv drama. It's like he was afraid to go the extra mile to make it really "creepy". As if he was afraid of making it controversial. When I say it felt like it was a tv drama, that's because it was indeed shackled by the same restrictions of those suspense tv dramas we see every season. I was overwhelmed with a sense of dissatisfaction when I finished, it felt like something was really missing.
Thankfully, Kurosawa went back to his roots with Chime, it was basically Cure's spiritual successor.
