I'm in a similar boat, where I have zero interest in 95% of Marvel after the 80's... outside of brief highlights in the 90's and 2000's there's nothing worth collecting.
That being said, I can't fathom the mindset of someone like yourself that would stop FF4 after Kirby's departure. I love the 70's and 80's FF4, and fight it very enjoyable through Thomas/Conway/Wein/Wolfman/Byrne/etc.
Once the omnis catch up to the already collected Byrne issues I'm done. Most of Marvel is getting close to their 80's drop-off points, so I'll only be left with neglected material like Defenders, Dr Strange, Daredevil, Spectacular SM, Team-Up, Two-in-One, Namor... actually I guess there's still a few titles to look out for.
Speaking of neglected material; DC has ignored their omnis/hardcovers for so long that I'm now excited every time they announce a new book. It's almost certain to be something on my wishlist (like 70's Batman), as opposed to Marvel where I have to sift through the modern dreck announcements for the silver/bronze age nugget.
