>LIFE ~The Shape of Dreams~ A rakugo performer showcasing her diverse talents... bringing bilingual rakugo to the world!
>Meet Katsura Fumirin, the 22nd apprentice of the 6th-generation master Katsura Bunshi.
>One of her greatest strengths is her fluency in English — and with it, she performs English rakugo, striving to share this traditional Japanese art with audiences around the globe.
>But that’s not her only side. This up-and-coming storyteller has a surprising second career — she also works as a referee in women’s professional wrestling, making her a rare kind of double talent.
>What Fumirin has actually created is not just English rakugo, but something unique she calls “bilingual rakugo” — a style where she tells the story in English, then inserts Japanese translations in a way that feels like a comedic retort. She performs this dynamic blend of English and Japanese rakugo in a variety of venues.
>Outside of rakugo, she’s equally passionate about her role as a women’s pro wrestling referee. During college, she officiated student wrestling matches, and this year, she passed the entrance exam for Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling, finally making her long-awaited referee debut.
>And as she says, “I just want to jump into all kinds of waters and swim.” With that spirit, she continues to open new doors, one after another.
