>keep anxious slaves like that collared and leashed at all times.
The vast majority of slaves are like this. It's not right to keep them away from their Master for extended periods, just unfortunately it isn't practical a lot of the time. If they can't be made to cope then there are still solutions.

Keeping them in a cage the entire day if Master has to be at work isn't practical, he deserves a clean home and the slave that cleaned it kneeling at the front door when he gets home. Timing how long the chores take on average, and having some smart cage that will sound a alarm for her to climb in and lock itself when its time. Same alarm to let her out and get ready for Master's return, although slaves tend to be full of tears when away from Master for more than a couple hours no matter how regular it is.

>Their benevolent overlords know what's best.
All of these dehumanization rituals are to assist in forcing them to understand that what they think truly doesn't matter, they are bound to Master, and this will last forever.

People who are capable of saying things that can ruin their life tend to be allowed to speak. slaves are required to ask permission to say anything other than simple responses to commands because we know that they will not use their brain responsibly, and the more they attempt to think the more they tie themselves up in knots with the little sentience they have.

Bringing order to a slaves chaotic mind is always a uphill battle but just the day to day dehumanization helps in building that vast gulf between her and people. Like personally the floor is where my slaves belong, and keeping my floors so clean they could eat off of it is a mark of pride. Which is part of why when I approve the daily gruel portion they have cooked themselves I sometimes dump it out on the floor rather than their feeding bowl. Every time that gulf widens it should be met with gratitude that someone cares enough to brainwash such dumb creatures.
