>it is the historical decision of the Catholic Church
No, it isn't. Once more, not only is scripture not authenticated by your church, the pretense that it even could be is nothing but a blasphemous usurpation. There is no possible world in which the word of God receives authority from men. Nor does the testimony of the Spirit authenticate the scripture; He only causes me to be aware of its self-authentication. God's word is self-authenticating by nature. Furthermore, this still factually did not happen historically. There was no authoritative canon in the Roman church until 1546. These councils you cite did not claim to define canon for the Church, they were not received as doing so, and still are not even recognized as doing by the church of Rome itself. This counter-factual assertion is an invention of the brains of lay apologists.
>which you then arbitrarily decide to accept or reject
No, not arbitrarily, it is because the church of Rome is anathema to the word of God. I mentioned before that God uses means and the tradition of the Church is among these. It is obviously so, since if the Church did not deliver to me the bible I would not possess it, and I could not know the word of God. However, these means relate entirely to my subjective knowledge and not at all to the objective truth. When the missionary places a bible in my hands he does not by virtue of that action thereby have authority over it and the power to nullify it at will. It is very true, one must either reject the authority of the pope or the authority of God, we have seen that clearly tonight. The difference between us is that you have a human religion, I have a divine religion.
