A critter-collecting adventure game similar to Pogeyman.
First time launching the game it didn't go past the dev logo, had to relaunch for it to work.
Polished menus, all the options needed for this type of game are there.
Right away one my nitpicks is with the pixel font, these are always hard to read the bigger the game window, an option to have a different font would be appreciated.
Playing at 2x window size and it looks better.
Another nitpick with the menus is that there's too much of the brown/yellow paper color and the buttons tend to blend in with the rest of the UI.
The intro and setup are fairly basic, we're dropped off outside of a town right away to explore.
More emphasis should be put on a goal for the player to keep in mind and work towards.
During combat our critter has a visible health bar with a percentage but the same cannot be said for the enemy critter (is this a bug or do we need to know about the critter beforehand or sth else?).
It seems certain critters straight up appear in front of you to fight, there is no apparent condition that says you're entering a fight like tall grass or NPCs in Pogeyman.
The game seems quite hard out of the gate, all the monsters are too strong for my critter and I keep dying.
The pixelart is well done and charming but the color palette could probably use more work, more complementary colors instead of everything being analogous.
Overall, I can feel there was a lot of work put into this game but it's not quite there yet for me, the beginning is too rough, it should ease the player in with a shallower difficulty curve and more setup.
