The films in question were Spookies, an obscure 80s horror film, and Evil Dead 2.

The monster was taken from Spookies and died in a similar fashion. Mid-film, a woman crushes a monster to death by turning over a book case. There's no way there would have been enough weight to have done that given how strong the monster was shown to have been.

Evil Dead 2 had a demon-possessed severed hand which erupted into a blood fountain when it was shot. It was also briefly trapped beneath a stack of books (with A Farewell to Arms conveniently placed on top).
