Extremely anecdotal evidence but most of the people I used to regularly talk with about the story, be it the AQ, events or random background lore, have almost all stopped caring over the course of the past two years. They still follow the AQ since it's the 'main' story but you can tell they're basically just along for the ride to see how it ends while primarily logging in for the various game modes or to play new characters
Feels like most people who at this point remain deeply invested in the story are the same kind of people who'll spend free time just reading fan theories and hyping up their favourite manga author of choice online
