... Its not so much that the values were wrong or even severe. Its just they cant be worshipped to the exclusion of all other priorities. I saw some of it unfold in my own youth; it was subtle and so insidious to a kid that you don't really notice it. For example, it confuses a kid why some of the adults that are made out to be clowns in the press are complaining about something that seems harmless like teen sex comedy movies.

But its all part of a whole. They seemed like they were reflecting male insecurities when in fact they had the effect of promoting it, among a host of other adolescent issues, not the least of which was female promiscuity. Everything was a 'big joke'.

It turns out that using humor as an excuse to encourage kids to focus on sex to score some easy shekels at the box office rather than redirect their attention elsewhere has consequences.

Even now, I can hear people calling this basic deduction and observation 'hate speech'.
