I remember when ROR2 got announced and I couldn't contain my excitement. Then it came out and it took all the wrong turns. The perfect game was right under my nose all along.
No running across long distance to get lost in ugly map, the 2D plane is just better to navigate. No horrible final boss. No moon gravity movements everything is quick and responsive. And if you get vaporized by one stray projectile you had more agency to avoid it where it ressembles unfair chaos ending your run in an anticlimactic manner in 2 because difficulty increasing exponentially doesn't conjugate well in a 3d space where you can be killed from every angles.
