Akshullaly my granddad did that work and he'd talk about how they'd ride girders to the top and back down since there was no working elevator.

So that's not just a lunch photo, that's how they transported workers up the skyscraper and back down again.

He said if they loaded a girder up with enough people it wouldn't start spinning in the wind as you got up higher where the winds increased.
