>Bamco willingly killed Heroes for this
I... Did anyone actually care about Heroes? I know the game itself was around for a long time so obviously someone cared about it as a game, but was it really still that popular if they shut it down? I always thought the concept sounded fun but tedious in the long run.
As for the branch of the broader franchise it created, that's just cancer. The Heroes manga by Toyotaro (Victory Mission) is the best of the non-game aspect of Heroes and that doesn't mean "Dragon Ball by the way of the Yu-Gi-Oh spin-offs" still all that appealing, it just means I can make sense of it having a bunch of dead characters showing up or weird OCs manifesting out of nowhere. The Nagayama ones (Dark Demon Realm Mission to Meteor Mission) are worse because there the framing device of all this bullshit just taking place in video game has been dropped, meaning we are somehow just meant to swallow that all the dead and non-canon characters are just running around between the ToP and EoZ, engaged in stories that seem unfit for Dragon Ball. And I don't even need to say anything about the animated adaptations of those stories, they keep the bullshit but cut out all the set-up, they're truly the absolute worst thing Dragon Ball has to offer. It doesn't feel like proper Dragon Ball, it feels like what awful Dragon Ball parodies thinks Dragon Ball is like.
