Appleoosa's most wanted: Troubleshoes spends most of his life feeling sad, and he is unable to stop returning to rodeos even as it causes the harm he is trying to avoid, because his shadow demands he go to rodeos. He does not have an explosion of negative emotion before gaining more pure motivations, but he does have to accept his own motivations and act on them, and is told the truth by the cmc first while at the lowest point in his life.
Keep Discord: FS tells discord the truth after he just about effectively kills a bitch
Griffonstone: Gilda cries. Every single griffon is looking for meaning in coins, which is never correct. Pinkie reminds her that she once cared if RD lived or died, and she cries. She's still in denial of her motivations until the very end, but still acts on them. Gilda also willingly speaks quite a lot, where no other griffon speaks at all without the promise of money, because gilda has a slightly different motivation. "We don't care about anything, and that's the way we like it." Grampa griff, also, pretty clearly likes sharing the glory of their kingdom.
Slice of Life: Catharsis takes the form of love here, which makes sense for a wedding. Love triggers some experimental fireworks which, when violently spent, leave behind a good feeling. Matilda almost gives up on her worry over the wedding, but is easily sucked back in by Steve magnet. The whole of this day's issues would be easily handled if matilda was actually satisfied by her own humility, but she's not, and that's why she's running around town and cranky isn't. You, also, are consumed with some form of worry as the guests zoom around town and are spilled, only for the wedding to turn out perfect just because.
Princess Spike: His alternative motivations are explicit and his public shaming is total and literally as unresolved as possible.
Party Pooped: Like a long joke, pinkie's efforts fail in the sharpest punchline possible, and then she feels better and presents her own way with pride.
Amending fences: Minty screams for like 8 seconds or something so that's catharsis: pic rel.
Magic sheep: Luna's cathartic moment involves the threatening of the fabric of reality and total despair and the willing choice to throw that aside. Involves a literal shadow monster shaped like herself. She also wouldn't have been able to set aside her bad feelings if she actually believed that she should be punished forever, so she had to accept her true motivations.
Canterlot Boutique: Rara drives herself into the floor trying to hold the dream of a boutique together, and eventually gives up because she's not actually getting her satisfaction from it. She continues doing business because her artistic needs are met, and only does that because of the emotional clarity which she gains from giving up in the first place.
