The GB game is great too. Some of the hookshot stuff in the end game is insanely hard though
GB Bionic Commando. One might think it's a port of the NES game but no, it's almost entirely a new game with whole new levels. The nazi theme is gone with a sci-fi setting in its place.
The NES game has more soul in account of daring to have the player start with 1 HP (you start with 3 in this one) and for being the first, but in some ways this version is better like how it allows you to change weapons/items at the com station in case you brought the wrong item with you, or how Super Joe actually has a meaningful role rather than being a giant nothingburger. The top down bonus stages that weren't that interesting on NES were replaced by sidescrolling ones.
The grappling hook sections also tend to be a LOT more challenging than on NES, the last level is particularly hard, it's probably the hardest GB game I've played so far because of that last level alone. In terms of content it's almost on par with the NES too so for a GB action game this is pretty stellar. I want to check out the GBC sequel now.
