or conversely bot - poked/constricted muscle can't hold contraction, so it helps to poke and rub muscle to relax it, but it doesn't fucking help when u're trying to flex it, like in benchpress and flies and yadda yadda, u wind up at best with squashed milk carton pecs that are tight cause they are injured at sternal part and pull shoulders forward and spine into flexion
