>>terminal effect
The terminal effect of some rounds a large increase in velocity increased impact resistance and that caused tearing of tissues beyond that of the wound channel caused by the bullet passing through.
This can be seen in many places and is common knowledge to hunters. While minimal in some cases and even a negative trade off, looking at you 357 sig, others that carry the weight that translates to more momentum after the initial energy exchange are in fact, better.
Discussing full barrels and not compacts..
The 357 magnum in its 125g full load is known for this. For the 357 sig fags about to chime in we are discussing a larger impact velocity with the 357 magnum, leading to an increase in secondary tearing due to increased impact resistance that effects the elasticity of human tissues as well as in increase in depth total somewhere near enough 9 inches more. The 357 magnum mogs the 357 sig in terminal performance from full size barrels. In short barrels who the fuck cares you are falling below the threshold where the trade off is worth it. You get minimal secondary tearing in exchange for less penetration.
As far as the 9mm being "enough" you can fuck right off. Rib bones, long travel angles, other limbs getting in the way, a jacket, any number of things leaves even 9mm fmj failing to through and through. Or even reach the vitals.
.45 accomplishes this far more reliably than 9mm. Magnums, and the 10mm is one by the numbers if not in name, do this better than all.
