I'm from the DFW area. I grew up going to Mavericks games with my uncle, whose name has been on the wall in the AA Center as a season ticket holder since it was built. Jason Terry was my favorite player. I genuinely broke into tears when the Mavs won a ring.

Luka was a perfect selection. Moving on from the awkward, loveable, and dominant Dirk to Luka seemed scripted. We went from one kid learning how to live in America while being one of the best basketball players on the planet, to a kid learning hwo to live in America while being one of the best basketball players on the planet. At a time when I wasn't sure if the Mavericks would ever be the same to me without Dirk, a new door opened and the team was just as easy to love as it ever was.

I haven't watched a single basketball game, in person or on TV, since Nico Harrison traded Luka to the Lakers. The trade killed basketball for me. I'll never watch the sport again. This isn't even justice. Nico Harrison will go on to be a millionaire, he'll never have to accept what he did to North Texas, and he'll never actually face the people he hurt.

Fuck Nico Harrison and fuck Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont. They personally destroyed something so so special.
