The native tribes (Apache, Kiowa) hated Mexicans so much they volunteered to fight with the US army in that war and subsequent skirmishes where native tribes would invade Mexico to kill Mexicans and rustle cattle and horses. You'll only find Mexican Americans who want to pretend they're natives, in Mexico they hate the Oahacans natives and treat them very badly, same in Los Angeles.
