Damn, that woul have been a cool twist. I can imagine him facing off against Kris who's just stepping over everyone at this point to try and get free, and saying that since Kris is the game's protagonist, him escaping Deltarune will just stop the progression of time or something like that. Then when he's defeated, Kris just uses the Crystals to break the final boundary and disappears, leaving Ralsei trapped in the final scene forever.

Doesn't seem like much of an act to me, if anything, the later chapters have shown that not only he's been made this way but also suffers greatly from simultaneously being the carrier of forbidden knowledge and having such a tender soul. If there's some master plan at work here, he's definitely just one of the pawns designe by someone to be the perfect guy for the job.
