I enjoyed BG3, but it felt like a kids cartoon (albeit with tits and fucking) in tone and presentation.

I think it's something to do with the level of fidelity that graphics have got to, it sort of lends itself to light quirkyness because it's hard to convey any weight when everyone looks like a CG doll.

Old isometric games never had this issue. They were like a zoomed out tapestry, with your imagination doing the rest. Genuinely think that a voice acted bitmap portrait is somehow more convincing than a 3d model in a modern engine.
