Millions of people in the West didn't one day wake up loving japanese, korean and chinese media. It took some really good stuff coming from those countries to make them relevant in the game industry.

E.g. Blue Archive, Nikke and specially Stellar Blade was huge for South Korea's reputation. Same for Genshin Impact and Wukong for China.

And to a much lesser extent: Spark the Electric Jester put Brazil in the map, as Zeno Clash and Tormented Souls did for Chile, Fight'n Rage for Uruguay. The Blasphemous games put Spain in the map (beyond Maldita Castilla and The Abbey of Crime of course), Grezzo and On Your Tail did Italy, etc.
Good/fun/attractive games increase their countries' developers reputation and can open the doors for future opportunities (like the Spaniard team Mercury Steam being hired to develop two Metroid and Castlevania games).
