(Last part)
I won’t tell you “hey you need to like Trump!” - you don’t need to, and I can perfectly understand why you wouldn’t.
I also won’t tell you not to be upset with the cranks - hey, I see Qoomers as insufferable well poisoning faggots too. I loathe the grifter culture, the YouTube talking heads, the media environment we live in where the loudest and most outrageous voice carries furthest and loudest.
But: you should consider whether the media you’re consuming are painting an accurate picture of the man, and whether your opinions on him are driven by facts or personal dislike.
I would also like to at least entertain the idea that Trump voters and supporters aren’t idiots voting against their own interests.
Afford them the privilege of agency, if nothing else.
People love Trump because he is an exceptional individual.
He is larger than life, the entire world hangs on his every word, some people do nothing but think about him - in love or in hate - all day.
He won the presidency as a long shot outsider, lost, and then won it again, survived assassination, survived bankruptcy, survived being prosecuted by his enemies, survived scandals that would have tanked any lesser politician.
He just keeps going.
He is an American icon, history in the making. We are witnessing it.
The people he gave voice to, the “deplorables” who had been let down by everyone else - he has never stopped fighting for them.
Yeah he rambles, yeah he fumbles, yeah sometimes he cocks up and makes things worse. He’s still their guy, sticking up for them in Washington when nobody else would give them the time of day.
The Dems, instead of looking upon those people with compassion, write them off as toothless hicks who don’t know what’s good for them, ignorant racists live in flyover country.
They don’t represent their interests, and have nothing but cold contempt for their backward ways.
Why would they ever vote for them?
