It totally kills Nakayama's masterpiece. What is this BS? The whole reason CSM blew up in the first place was because of how cinematic it was, making it appeal to people who didn't care for such over-the-top expressions.
CSM was on track to make cinema history and be a pioneer in a new approach to anime. Instead a few Japanese neckbeards complained and that was all scrapped; even though the majority liked it. Instead some other studio who will look at the numbers will come in and take the style and direction and some other anime will get that pioneering position.
We see this time and time again in history. Someone makes the first step, small minority of people stifle it because of some decrepit desires. Someone else comes along that doesn't care about their oppositions, and takes that idea and puts it to light.
