Abraham Lincoln was right they need to go back to Africa. That was his plan. He wanted to send them back to their home nations. And many of them were cross bred by slavers and didn't even know their true ancestry and didn't really have a home. Lincoln helped set up Liberia. It was supposed to be for any liberated slaves to go back to if they didn't have a home to go to. That is why their flag looks so similar to the USA flag. USA helped establish it.

Lincoln was killed before that part of the plan could be carried out.
