there were some weird ai shenanigans involved and a lot of cycling charging of helpless melee infantry in the end but i barely managed to pull of a win. i would have posted the army anyway though even on a loss
the army consists of
- the melee focused lord
- a caster (life in this case for heals)
- 5x artillery to make the enemy move towards you
- 5x defensive infantry to defend artillery and for sieges
- 4x anti large cav to incercept other cav
- 4x elite cav to harass advancing army
basically the artillery makes the enemy army move forward and the infantry stays back with the artillery to block enemy cav until the your own anti large cav can intercept. meanwhile you use your lord, caster and elite cav to harass the advancing army
to be fair there is definitely more micro involved than in a more infantry based army but basically you have to order your artillery once on high value targets and then get to focus on the elite cav, caster and your lord. if the enemy sends their cav you give one order to the nearest anti large cav and they should win the engagement. meanwhile if you can recruit flying elite cav they stay safely up in the air while you micro the anti large cav until you switch back
