There's basically very little technical information ever discussed about these. It's always some memes taken straight from reddit or worse; thirdies obsessed with projecting idpol onto it. It's not like when someone makes a thread about medieval central Europe or Mesoamerica and it's something very niche so you actually learn new information instead of recycled schizo infographs.
The Roman Empire was largely reviled
By the time of its collapse by both Italians and Europeans at large. It was seen as an evil empire and it's collapse was celebrated.

The reason I believe this is true is because roman names and naming conventions got extinguished at some point. That means folks actively changed their names to hide any roman connection. This would only be done if the perception of Rome went through an era of universal hatred.
