I think what they did with S.E.E.D. Is so much more diabolical than Manato. They were hyped long before back in 2.6 and the player fantasy of playing as the robot was completely taken away. Hoyoverse just completely missed an easy slam dunk. Even if they didn't want to commit to a sentient robot they still had the blueprint and it's name was Firefly.
