The fact that the head of one company,Sinclair, that owns major affiliate stations across the west cost was friends with Kirk and took it personally. Sinclair and another network of local ABC stations dropped Kimmel's show. ABC saw it was taking huge losses from losing those major markets and the Kimmel show was already being produced at a loss with failing viewership.
