Rean's development and the depiction of his perpetual depression and self loathing are what intrigues me the most about Cold Steel.
A decent protagonist can carry an arc on his own, and Rean definitely fits the bill. I can't wait to find out how he develops throughout the years as he lives with the guilt of annexing Crossbell for the greater good.
