Yeah, hitting your kids is terrible parenting. You may get them to stop a behavior right there but you're doing much more long term damage to them and their behavioral problems will only get worse in addition to making them more prone to mental health problems. Also, you're literally teaching your kids that violence is an acceptable way to solve your problems, what kind of example is that. Of course whenever I bring this up, people get angry and defensive as if I'm encroaching on their God-given right to abuse their kids and be shitty parents.
