DE is an asinine mockery and rehash of the first game and it doesn't even make Bay justice. Max dumps all the people she supposedly cares about in her friend group to go on a road trip with Chloe's car like straight away as it is written on that shitty journal, and it comes across as a cheap way to soft reboot the series. A good proper Bay ending sequel would have been something like Max trying to carry over Chloe's best wishes with her group of people she cared about, the ones she saved Arcadia Bay for, and mature through that. Or at least, use the original concept of the split timeline to make her see a reality in which her and Chloe are happy together and managed to make things right despite many struggles on the road.

Tons of possible narrative solution, and they choose all the weakest ones
