Something like Andrew's Carjacker might work well if you're an "all the gear all the time" rider. Shoulder holsters would work, but an alternative you might consider is a chest bag like 945 industries. 945 in particular has velcro adapters that let you put an IWB appendix rig inside the bag, so you don't have to wear the murse after you dismount.

If you use a gun with proper drop safety, you're not going to shoot yourself during a fall.
